Use
Political subdivision (PSD) codes are numbers that identify a taxpayer's residence and work site locations, as follows:
- Six-digit numbers for municipalities
- Four-digit numbers for school districts
- Two-digit numbers for tax collecting districts (TCDs)
Employees in Pennsylvania are required to complete a Residency Certification Form upon hire or to provide notification of a name or address change. PSD codes are a necessary component of information required on this form. PSD codes play an integral role in assisting employers and Tax Officers in remitting, reporting, and distributing the correct amount of earned income tax to the appropriate taxing jurisdictions.
