Documentation

Definition

The posting date is the date under which the document is entered in financial accounting or cost accounting.

Procedure

Enter the posting date with which you want the documents to be posted.

Use

From the posting date, the system derives the fiscal year and the period for which the accounts or cost elements mentioned in the document are updated.

In document entry, the system checks whether the specified posting date is allowed on the basis of the posting period.

A posting period is allowed if the following conditions are met:

• The period is not locked (cutoff period)
• The controlling area is defined for the period
• Cost Center Accounting is activated in the tax codes

Note

If you do not enter a posting date, all documents are posted with the current day's date.
