Definition
This field contains an abbreviation that represents a specific cost item. Cost items represent the different categories of costs that contribute to the overall cost of a cost object.
Cost items are based on either:
- wage elements in Personnel Planning and Development (PD), or
- wage types in Personnel Administration (PA)

Use
Use this field to identify the cost element(s) whose value you want to change. The system applies the change only to cost elements whose values are absolute numbers (not a percentage).
To specify a single cost element either:
- type in a cost element abbreviation, or
- retrieve a list of cost elements and make a selection by:
. pressing F4, or
. clicking on the down arrow
To specify more than one cost element:
- enter a string of characters, along with replacement symbols, for example, ABC*
Replacement symbols:
You can use replacement symbols to help select cost elements.
- use asterisks * as wildcards, to represent any sequence of characters.
- use a plus sign + to represent a single missing character.
