Documentation

Blocks a promotion for the employee for the given validity period.

Use

If you set this indicator, the system does not increase the age or seniority level until this infotype record expires.

The progression of the employee to the next correct level then takes place automatically. The restriction is only temporary. When the restriction is lifted, the employee is assigned to the age or seniority level to which he or she would have been assigned if the restriction had not been placed.

This function can be used in payroll as a disciplinary measure for public sector employees (civil servants) and also for hourly-paid employees and salaried employees who work in the public sector.

Dependencies

If you create a record for the Additional Information for Basic Pay infotype (0304), the system splits the Basic Pay infotype (0008) for the same period, provided it is not delimited.

If the start of a temporary restriction is on exactly the same date as a level increase that is due, the system brings forward the date of the level increase. To avoid this, use an earlier start date when you create a temporary restriction (at least one day before the start date of the next level increase).

Example

The public sector employee Max Miller would be assigned to the following seniority levels:

  • From 01.01.2000 level 03
  • From 01.01.2002 level 04

However, as a disciplinary measure, his promotion is blocked from July 01, 1999 to December 31, 2001. For this period, you create a record for the infotype with the Temporary restriction indicator. The assignments for Max Miller are then as follows:

  • From 31.12.2001 level 02
  • From 01.01.2002 level 04

Use

This field is used in infotype 0304, the additional 'Basic Pay'
infotype, in order to indicate a restriction.
You can differentiate between two cases here:

1.)Restriction (for example: disciplinary measures)
The promotion to the next level is restricted temporarily until the record expires. Thereafter, a promotion to the correct level is carried
out through RPITUM01.

2.) Use of the indicator with regard to a performance based pay.
The restriction combines with the permanency indicator to produce a
remainder in the previous level. With a performance that meets the
work requirements, a promotion to the next level is carried out.
