Definition

Country key used to define how inputs are checked, for example, length of postal codes or bank account numbers.

In most cases, the two-place ISO code as defined in ISO 3166 is used, which SAP provides as a default value.

Other options include the country key for motor vehicles or a typical key used in the respective country, such as the key used by the Federal Statistical Office in Germany.

Country keys are defined in the global settings during system implementation.

The definition of the country key in the SAP system does not necessarily agree with political or national units.

Since the country key does not have to agree with the ISO code in all installations, programs that diffferentiate certain values of the country key must not query the country key, T005-LAND1, but instead must use the ISO code, T005-INTCA.
