Definition

Country key used to decide how entries are checked, for example, the length of a postcode or bank account number.

The two-character ISO-CODE in line with ISO 3166 is normally used. This code is also the default setting in SAP systems.

Other options are the country keys for vehicles or country-specific key, for example, the key for the Federal Statistical Office Germany.

The country key is defined in the global system settngs when a system is implemented.

The country key definition used in the SAP system does not necessarily have to match the political or national country key units.

As the country key does not have to match the ISO code in all installations, programs with different values for the country key do not have to use ISO code T005-LAND1. Instead, those installations have to be programmed to use ISO code T005-INTCA.
