Definition
The basic exempt amount determines the amount of the debtor's garnishment-exempt base. The basic exempt amount dependents on par. 291a of the Order of Attachment (OA). This means that the debtor's year-end bonuses (13th and 14th months' wages) are the decisive factors.
You only apply the basic exempt amount when a different amount is to be applied for a certain individual in a garnishment group. The standard basic exempt amount for the group is recorded in table T5A6H.
