Definition

Bundles document rows in journals in order to ensure consistent replication to the views. All rows in a document always belong to the same slice.

Normally, the slice is automatically assigned when the Accounting Engine is updated. The documents then belong to the current default slice. The default slice changes as soon as the Accounting Engine contains a data requirement of a view.

In special cases, when data that belongs together logically is updated in several logical units of work (LUWs), the inseparabilty of the data can make explicit slice assignment possible.
