Use

Assign decision makers:

If roles have been entered in the system as decision makers at the beginning of the approval but you have not selected any persons for these roles, the system automatically selects the person assigned to the role. If several persons are assigned to the role, the system selects the person assigned to the role at the end of the phase.

Do not assign decision makers:

You have to make the assignment manually before you start the approval.
