Use
Note
A red symbol next to a name indicates that a former spouse (or former domestic partner, if recognized) does not qualify for COBRA after a Divorce or Legal separation event since he/she was not enrolled in the employee's plan when the event occurred.
COBRA regulations state that if an employee terminates his/her spouse's coverage under a COBRA-relevant plan in anticipation of a divorce or legal separation, the spouse retains his/her right to COBRA coverage after the event. If a red symbol appears for a former spouse (or domestic partner), you must, therefore, decide whether or not it is appropriate to offer this person COBRA coverage.
If you decide to offer COBRA coverage, refer to the SAP Library documentation for information about how to proceed (under Human Resources -> Personnel Management -> Benefits Administration (PA-BN) -> USA Specifics -> COBRA Administration -> Special Procedures -> Processing Divorces and Legal Separations).
