Definition

Determines if the unique identifier of an entity is generated internally or must be entered by the user.

Use

The value chosen in this field is used as an input in the number ranges function module for generation and validation of numbers.

Dependencies

You specify the number assignment types for an entity type in the Implementation Guide (IMG) activity Define Number Ranges. Collateral Management provides three number range assignment types:

• Internal: For each entity type, you must specify a number range interval. The system assigns a unique ID from this number range interval to each entity created for the specified entity type.
• External and within a specified Range: You specify an entity ID and the system validates if the ID exists in the number range interval specified for the entiy type of the entity
• External Free text/number Entry: You can specify a number or a free text of your choice as an identifier. No validations are performed against entries for this number assignment type.
