Definition

Determines that the entity identifier is to be specified by the user.

Use

You can use the number range assignment type to determine if an identifier for an entity must be generated internally or be specified by the user. Collateral Management provides the following two types of external number range assignment types:

  • External and within a specified Range: You can enter a number that is validated against the number range interval defined for the specified entity type.
  • External Number of Free Text Entry: You can enter any number or text of your choice.

Dependencies

Maintaining internal number ranges involves the following steps:

  1. Define number range intervals for the entity types in the Implementation Guide (IMG) activity Define Number Ranges. In this activity, you must check the flag External. to specify an external interval. You can define any number of intervals for an entity type.
  2. Additionally, in the respective Implementation Guide (IMG) activities to assign number ranges to the entity types,
    • Select an existing number range interval using input help on the field.
    • Select the appropriate number range assignment type.
