Definition

Determines that the asset identifier is to be specified by the user.

Use

You can use the number range assignment type to determine if an identifier for an asset must be generated internally or specified by the user.

Collateral Management provides the following types of external number range assignment types:

  • External and Within a Specified Range: You can enter a number that is validated against the number range interval defined for the specified asset type.
  • External Number of Free Text Entry: You can enter any number or text of your choice.

Maintaining external number ranges involves the following steps:

  1. Defining number range intervals for asset types in the Implementation Guide (IMG) activity Define Number Ranges. You can define any number of intervals for an asset type.
  2. Additionally, in the Implementation Guide (IMG) activity Assign Number Ranges to Asset Types,
    • Select an existing number range interval using input help on the field.
    • Select an appropriate external number assignment type.
