Definition

Specifies that awards are vested pro-rata if a life event occurs.

Example

On January 1, 2002, an employee receives a granting of 1000 awards with a term of five years. The vesting rule for this award stipulates that after two years (therefore, on January 1, 2004) all awards are vested.

However, on January 1, 2003, a life event with pro-rated vesting occurs for this employee. Since 1/5 of the term of award has passed by this time, 1/5 of the granted awards (200 out of the 1000) are vested immediately. The rest (800) are vested on Janaury 1, 2004, in accordance with the original vesting rule.
