Example
The conditions of your long-term incentive plan specify that at the time of exercising, the system calculates the exercise price of a stock option from the current value of the share minus the difference between that value and a benchmark index.
In the time between granting and exercising, the value of a share increases by 50%, but the value of the benchmark index only increases by 30%. This determines that at exercising, employees can buy the shares at a price reduced by 20%.
