Definition

The CHIP catalog contains CHIPs of different origins, for example, CHIPS from the BCV (Business Context Viewer) or from Web Dynpro ABAP components. The name of the CHIP provider corresponds to its origin.

Furthermore, the name of a provider forms the prefix of the CHIP name. The name describes the technology with which the CHIP has to be called at runtime. Normally, this technique corresponds to its origin - CHIPs from the Web Dynpro ABAP CHIP provider are always Web Dynpro ABAP components.

CHIP catalogs containing CHIPs from different technologies are also supported.
