Documentation
Definition
The date on which the document is created in accounting and cost accounting.
Use
The fiscal year and the period for which an update of the accounts or cost elements referenced in the document takes place, are derived from the posting date.
During document entry the posting date entered is checked with the posting period allowed to see if it is valid.
Note
The posting date can differ from the entry date (the date it was entered in the system) as well as from the document date (the date of creation of the original document).
