Definition

In this field you specify the number of days by which the value date is to be shifted in the case of interest adjustment.

Such a shift can be necessary as the offsetting posting of the next bank usually takes place on the following business day.

In other words, the number of days for interest adjustment can be regarded as a buffer, providing a sufficiently large framework for the calculation of interest.

Example

On 03/30, a posting from 03/18 is to be returned.

Initiator:

Account A (external bank) Account B (BCA internal)

Posted Val.date Debit Credit Posted Val.date Debit Credit

Amount 3/30 04/01 100 3/30 3/18 100

Interest 3/30 3/30 5

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Total 3/30 04/01 105 3/30 3/18 100

Until now, the difference between the original value date and the return date (posting date) applied for the calculation of the interest adjustment. In the example: 3/30 minus 3/18 = 12.

Now, if you have specified a shift of two days in this field, the interest is calculated for the following period: 3/30 minus 3/18 plus 2 days.

The additional business days are included in interest calculation.
