Definition
The start date of benefit payment indicates the date from which lower-taxed benefit payments are made.
If benefits payments received favorable tax treatments before 2005, you can enter 01/01/2005 as the date.
Use
The start date of benefit payment is relevant for calculating the tax-exempt amounts for these payments according to German pension tax law.
This date controls the assignment to a cohort. In turn, the cohort defines the percentage rate and maximum amount of a benefits payment that is tax-exempt.
