Planned/actual principle
This indicator controls the calculation of the interest calculation capital for the cash flow. It determines which repayment flows are used to calculate the reduction in the interest calculation capital as at the repayment settlement date.
- Planned principle
The reduction in the interest calculation capital is calculated on the basis of the posted debit positions and (where applicable) the planned debit positions as at the repayment settlement date.
- Actual principle
The reduction in the interest calculation capital is calculated on the basis of the posted incoming payments and (where applicable) the planned debit positions for the repayments as at the repayment settlement date. If the 'immediate settlement' flag is set in the repayment condition, the repayment is settled as at the payment date.
Actual principle 1 / Actual principle 2
The two variants of the actual principle differ in the way principle and interest payments are calculated for annuities and in the way payments are considered for future calculation periods.
Calculation of annuity payments according to the actual principle
- Actual principle 1
The payment instalments (principal + interest) for annuities remain constant. A delayed or reduced repayment results in a higher interest charge. To compensate for this, the repayment portion of the annuity is reduced.
- Actual principle 2
A delayed or reduced repayment leads to a change in the payment instalment. The repayment amount for the following periods corresponds to the amount calculated in the original plan (acc. to the plan principle). The increase in the interest calculation capital results in an increased interest payment, thus increasing the payment instalment.
Treatment of payments according to the actual principle
- Actual principle 1
A reduced incoming payment for a repayment affects the interest calculation capital for all the following calculation periods.
- Actual principle 2
A reduced incoming payment for a repayment only changes the calculation for the next calculation period. In the following periods, it is assumed that the remaining payment will have been made by the debit position date of the current period. To allow for this in the calculation, the system simulates an (internal) incoming payment for the remaining amount as at the next due date.
