Definition
The option premium amount is the option price applied to the option amount in leading or following currency. The premium currency determines which amount is used.
- Premium currency = following currency of the option:
The premium price corresponds to the strike price. In this case, the leading currency is used for calculating the option premium. - Premium currency = leading currency:
The premium price corresponds to the inverse of the strike quotation. In this case, the following currency is used for calculating the option premium.
Note:
You can quote the option price in points or percent. To do this, select point-quoted or percent-quoted.
Example
You have purchased an option of 1,000,000 EUR at a rate of 1.1800 USD per EUR:
Option EUR/USD, Strike price 1.1800
In this example, EUR is the leading currency and USD is the following currency. The resulting amounts are as follows:
Leading currency amount EUR 1,000,000.00
Following currency amount USD 1,180,000.00
Option price quoted in points Option price quoted in percent
Premium currency USD Option price = 0.0010 Option price = 0.1
Premium amount = USD 1,000.00 Premium amount = USD 1,180.00
