Definition
Used for categorizing transactions into their various parts.
A general valuation class applies to all valuation areas. (Specific) valuation classes are defined at the valuation area level. By assigning general valuation classes to specific valuation classes, you enable the system to determine the (specific) valuation classes of the various valuation areas for each financial transaction on the basis of a general valuation class.
You assign a general valuation class to a position when you create the financial transaction.
