Definition

The price type classifies the prices for a product in SAP Global Trade Services (SAP GTS). The system then uses the price type to interpret the price information.

Use

The following price types are relevant in GTS:

• Material price
• Net cost

Example

In preference processing, the system uses the price type defined for a price to determine which method to use to determine the preference. This is especially relevant for preference processing in the NAFTA preference zone.

The NAFTA preference rules can contain both the net cost method and the transaction value method for determination of preference eligibility. Each determination method is based on different initial prices.

• The system applies the net cost method if the method is valid for a product in the preference rule and the price type net cost is assigned to the product price.
• The system applies the transaction value method if the method is valid for a product in the preference rule and the price type material price is assigned to the product price.
