Definition

The time zone describes the location of an object with regard to its local time.

Use

If you do not specify a time zone when you enter a date, the system automatically proposes the time zone recorded in the business partner master of the legal unit.

If no time zone is defined for the legal unit, the system time zone is proposed.

Dependencies

In electronic communication, the time points (date and time) are converted to the time zones of the customs offices involved in the communication.

The time zone of the office of destination (partner type CUSBZS) is used for import processes, while the time zone of the office of origin/office of export (partner type CUSAZS) is used for export processes.

Example

The declaration date is specified as 12:00 noon in a customs declaration (import). The system determines time zone CET (Central European Time) automatically from the time zone of the specified legal unit.

For electronic communication, an office of destination is specified for which the EST (Eastern Standard Time) time zone is defined.

Converting to UTC (coordinated universal time), the following applies:

  • CET = UTC + 1
  • EST = UTC - 5

Therefore, the time of 6:00:00 a.m. is calculated for the declaration date.
