Documentation
Definition
Key that defines the area (for example, production) in which the bill of material can be used.
Use
You can choose different indicators to define the maximum attribute for the item status and determine whether the item has to be or can be processed in the specific area, or whether processing of the item is not permitted.
Procedure
Examples
In the Production and Costing enterprise areas, you can maintain separate bills of material with different items for a material:
- Production BOM:
This BOM enters items that are relevant to production. These production-relevant items are copied to the planned order and dependent requirements are determined and are transferred to the production order. The production order is used to instruct production to manufacture the material.
- Costing BOM:
This BOM enters items that are relevant to the determination of material usage costs for a product.
If, for example, you create a costing with a quantity structure, the system automatically determines the BOM and all the costing-relevant items for determining the costs of the goods manufactured.
