Definition

Internal technical key of a business object in the Business Object Repository (BOR).

Business objects in the BOR are identified by an object type (such as BUS2032) and a descriptive name (such as SalesOrder). Both of these items have to be unique over all object types.

External applications often address business objects by their names. In contrast, they are identified primarily by the object type internallyin the BOR. At first, only the internal key was used. The need to address them by name arose as a result of the increased use of business objects. Both items are now managed to ensure compatibility.

The object type can be up to 10 characters long.
