Documentation
Definition
The starting point specifies the place of loading of a means of transport.
Use
Customs authorities may demand information regarding the starting point and point of destination for certain customs procedures.
Dependencies
You have defined the starting point as a transportation connection point in the system, and can assign the relevant starting point in a customs declaration or customs shipment document either manually or automatically through the default data.
Example
Airport - Air Freight
When air freight is used, the customs authority may define a specific percentage as the air freight share between the originating airport and the destination airport, in accordance with the legal regulations. This procedure is justified by the fact that the customs value is calculated based on the goods value and freight costs to the place of introduction. When an airplane lands inland, it has crossed the external border of the customs are, and thus the place of introduction. However, the actual freight costs are calculated to the target airport. Therefore, the percentage specified by the customs authority for a combination of originating and destination airports is intended to represent the exact share of the freight costs for customs value calculation.
