Definition
Specifies the type of license that is used.
The license is a term for the technical implementation of the various official permits and licenses from the services of SAP Global Trade Services, such as:
- SAP Compliance Management
- Import and export license in the "Legal Control" service
- SAP Customs Management
- Security in the "Transit Procedure" service
- Authorization in the "Transit Procedure" and "Customs Processing" services
- SAP Risk Management
- Export license in the "Restitution" service
- Security in the "Restitution" service
- Letters of credit in the "Letter of Credit Processing" service
Use
The legal system in each country contains a number of import and export licenses, securities, authorizations, and letters of credit. Each of these licenses has its own instances, which you can define as license types in the system.
Example
The securities in SAP Customs Management that are modeled through the license types can have the following instances, for example, in accordance with the legal requirements:
- Comprehensive guarantee
- Individual guarantee in cash
- Individual guarantee by a guarantor
- Individual guarantee in the form of vouchers
The licenses in SAP Compliance Management that are modeled by the license types can have the following instances in accordance with the German legal system:
- Individual Validated License (IVL)
This license covers the export of a specific product for a specific customer up to a certain amount. This type of license is required for products that are subject to strict export controls.
- Collective export license (CEL)
This license is valid for multiple materials and customers. As a result, it is not necessary to obtain a separate export license for every export business with the same material, but with different customers.
The licenses in SAP Compliance Management for the U.S. legal system include the following licenses (among others):
- General licenses (GL)
This is the most widely used type of license. It is issued for a specific material. The exporter can use this type of license without have to apply for it at the responsible authority, as long as he has verified that the GL is valid for the material and country of destination.
- Validated licenses (VL)
This type of license is issued for a specific material and a value. The exporter has to submit an application to the authorities for this license.
- ITAR licenses
This type of license is required for export business with products for military use.
