Definition
Specifies the type of license used to model licenses, securities, CAP licenses, and authorizations.
Use
You use licenses to model specific official licenses and permits in the system. The licenses acn differ by country, legal system, and process. Example of their possible use in the services of SAP Global Trade Services (SAP GTS):
- SAP Compliance Management
- Import/export licenses in the "Legal Control" service
- SAP Customs Management
- Securities in the "Transit Procedure" service
- Authorizations in the "Transit Procedure" and "Customs Processing" service
- SAP Risk Management
- Export licenses in the "Restitution" service
- Securities in the "Restitution" service
- Letters of credit in the "Letter of Credit Processing" service
Each of these licenses has its own instances, which you can define as license types in the system.
Example
The securities in SAP Customs Management that are modeled using license types can have the following attributes, dep according to legal requirements:
- Comprehensive guarantee
- Individual guarantee in cash
- Individual guarantee by a guarantor
- Individual guarantee in the form of vouchers
Licenses in SAP Compliance Management that are modeled using licenses in the system can have the following attributes according to the German legal system:
- Individual Validated License (IVL)
This license covers the export of a specific product for a specific customer up to a specific value. This type of license is required for products that are subject to strict export controls. - Collective Export License (CEL)
This license is valid for multiple materials and customers. This means you do not need to create a separate request for an export license for each export with the same material but different customers.
The licenses in SAP Compliance Management for the legal system in the USA contains the following licenses, amongst others:
- General licenses (GL)
This is the most common type of license used. It is issued for a specific material. The exporter can use this type of license without having to apply for it from the relevant authorities, once they have checked that it is valid for the material and country of destination. - Validated licenses (VL)
This type of license is used for a specific material and value. The exporter must apply for this license from the relevant authorities. - ITAR licenses
This license is required for export transactions involving products with military use.
