Item number to uniquely identify a customs shipment/declaration item during communications with official customs systems.
Use
The external item number is assigned automatically when an EDI message is created, which ensures sequential numbering of all items. The customs shipment/declaration items are updated by the corresponding reply messages based on the external item numbers.
