Definition

The external license number identifies any of the following:

• An import/export license within import/export control
• An authorization in 'Transit Procedures' and 'Customs Processing'
• A security in 'Transit Procedures' and 'Restitution'

Use

The external license number is assigned by the competent authorities. The number must be used in communication with the authorities.

If a license is requested, the customs authority often assigns a preliminary work number or the license is stored in the SAP GTS system without an external number.
