Definition
Specifies the type of license used.
Use
The respective legal system used in each country contains a series of import and export licenses. Each of these licenses has its own characteristics. License types are used to distinguish licenses.
Example
The German legal system contains the following licenses:
- Individual Validated License
This license covers the export of a specific product for a specific customer up to a specific value. This type of license is required for products that are subject to strict export controls.
- Collective Export License
This license is valid for several materials and customers. This means you do not need to create a separate request for an export license for each export with the same material but different customers.
The legal system in the USA contains the following licenses:
- General licenses (GL)
This is the most common type of license used. It is issued for a specific material. The exporter can use this type of license without having to apply for it from the relevant authorities, once they have checked that it is valid for the material and country of destination.
- Validated licenses (VL)
This type of license is used for a specific material and value. The exporter must apply for this license from the relevant authorities.
- ITAR licenses
This license is required for export business involving arms.
