Definition

Depending on the language involved, various letters and combinations of letters can be replaced (unconditionally) by other letters or combinations of letters.

Example

In German, for example, "oe" can always be replaced by "ö", and "ue" can be replaced by "ü".
To ensure that the system recognizes that the last name "Mueller" is equivalent to last name "Müller" during the SPL check, the replacement UE --> Ü must be defined in the Customizing activity for standardization.

Note

Wildcards and placeholders are not permitted.
