Use

Specify how you want the system to calculate the leading indicator values for future periods.

  • If you leave this field empty or select Forecasted, the system determines the leading indicator values for future periods by taking the leading indicator history and creating a forecast for the future leading indicator values on the basis of this history. The leading indicator history is created by the planning service "SPP: Preparation Service for Leading-Indicator-Based Fcst" using Business Intelligence installed base master data and its historical key figure values. You can define your own forecast profile for the leading indicator key figure.
  • If you select 1 Based on Installed Base, the planning service "SPP: Preparation Service for Leading-Indicator-Based Fcst" also calculates the leading indicator values for future periods. For this, you must retrieve the key figure values of the installed base also for future periods in the Business Intelligence (BI) system of SAP Advanced Planning and Optimization (SAP APO).

    Example:

There is the following information about the installed base:

    • Your installed base consist of 100 equipments.
    • In each equipment, you use one service part A.
    • You have selected operation time as the leading indicator key figure.
    • In the future period X, you calculate an operation time of 160 hours for each equipment.

For the future period X, the value for the leading indicator for service part A is 16,000.

  • If you select 2 Imported/Specified Manually , the system does not calculate the leading indicator values for future periods, but uses the value you provided per service part. You can either specify leading indicator values for future periods on the Interactive Forecasting screen, or import them using a Business Application Programming Interface (BAPI).
