Documentation
Definition
Key that specifies the area (such as production) in which the BOM can be used
Use
By selecting various indicators, you specify the maximum value of the item status and control whether the item must/can be processed in the specific area (such as production) or whether processing is not permitted.
Procedure
Examples
For a material, you can maintain separate BOMs with different items for the business areas of production and costing:
- Production BOM:
This BOM contains items that are relevant for production. Production-relevant items are copied to the planned order and dependent requirements are calculated. The items are also copied when the planned order is converted to a production order. Production is requested by means of the production order with material manufacturing.
- Costing BOM:
This BOM contains items that are relevant for determining the material usage costs of a product.
For example, if you create a cost estimate with a quantity structure, the BOM is calculated automatically along with all costing-relevant items for calculating the manufacturing costs.
