Definition
Key that controls the variance calculation
Use
Variances can be calculated only for orders for which a variance key has been specified. This key is proposed from the costing view in the material master record.
If you have activated the scrap calculation in the variance key, the scrap value at target costs is calculated and deducted from the actual costs before the variances are calculated.
Procedure
If you work with cost object hierarchies, the cost object category determines how the variances are calculated.
- If the costs entered at the hierarchy level are distributed to the allocated orders (product cost collector or production orders), you must enter a variance key in each order so that the system can calculate variances for the assigned orders.
- If the costs entered at the hierarchy level are settled as price differences, you must enter a variance key in each cost object node and calculate total variances for the cost object hierarchy.
