In some countries, the region forms part of the address. The significance in each case is country-specific.

When addresses are automatically formatted, the system issues the key value for the regional code for addresses in the United States, Canada, Italy, Brazil, and Australia. For addresses in Great Britain, the system issues the corresponding text for the county.
