Definition

If you switch the RBD tool to the balance-oriented approach, you can include manual planned records in the valuations and calculations of the value adjustment requirement.

You can use the RBD: Include Manual Planned Records (Y/N) indicator to define whether existing manual planned records are to be included in the calculation of value adjustment proposals.

Use

Note that if you include manual planned records in the calculation of value adjustment proposals, then it is no longer possible to map the source system accurately.

Dependencies

Indicator    Description

X     If you set the indicator, then the existing, manual planned records for a RBD account are included in the calculation of value adjustment proposals (in the automatic creation of planned records).

<blank>     If you do not set the indicator, then the existing, manual planned records for a RBD account are not included in the calculation of value adjustment proposals (in the automatic creation of planned records).

Example

The following example explains the behavior of the value adjustment module. For the purpose of simplicity, no differentiation is made between capital, interest, and charges in this case.

Description    Amount

Value adjustment requirement according to subledger:    EUR 90,000

Existing actual records for relevant contract in RBD:    EUR 20,000

Existing manual planned records for relevant contract in RBD:    EUR 10,000

  • Indicator RBD: Include Manual Planned Records (Y/N) set

If the indicator is set, then existing manual planned records are included in the calculation of additional value adjustment proposals. In the example above, there is a total value adjustment requirement - according to the data in the subledger - of EUR 90,000. Value adjustments of EUR 20,000 have been posted already on the RBD account (actual records). The system has also identified and flagged the requirement for an increase in the value adjustments of an additional EUR 10,000 (manual planed records). According to the calculation Value Adjustment Requirement Subledger - Actual Records - Manual Planned Records = Additional Value Adjustment Requirement, the additional planned record generated by RBD when updating the RBD account is EUR 60,000 (90.000 - 20.000 - 10.000 = 60.000).

Existing planned records after update of RBD account:

    • Manual planned record of     EUR 10,000
    • Automatically created planned record (recreated by updating RBD account)     EUR 60,000
  • Indicator RBD: Include Manual Planned Records (Y/N) not set

If the indicator is not set, then existing manual planned records are not included in the calculation of additional value adjustment proposals. In the example above, there is a total value adjustment requirement - according to the data in the subledger - of EUR 90,000. Value adjustments of EUR 20,000 have been posted already on the RBD account (actual records). The manual planned record of EUR 10,000 is not included. According to the calculation Value Adjustment Requirement Subledger - Actual Records = Additional Value Adjustment Requirement, the additional planned record generated by RBD when updating the RBD account is EUR 70,000 (90.000 - 20.000 = 70.000).

Existing planned records after update of RBD account:

    • Manual planned record of     EUR 10,000
    • Automatically created planned record (recreated by updating RBD account)     EUR 70,000

If the planned records were to be posted as actual records, the total value adjustments of EUR 100,000 would have been taken into account (20,000 + 10,000 + 70,000) although the value adjustment requirement according to the subledger is only EUR 90,000.
