Definition

Amount to be used to post the risk provision position "value adjustment" during an initial run for the current settlement period.

Use

This field can provide the risk provision position "value adjustment" (in contract currency) to be posted during an initial run for the current settlement period. When an amount is provided, you can use the Initial Run for Future Analysis function to make balance sheet postings using special flows for migration and legacy data transfer.

Note that the amount provided here must be entered in contract currency (WAEVS field).

Dependencies

  • The risk provision position is initialized by the Initial Run for Future Analysis function.
  • If an evaluation has been created during an initial run, the corresponding evaluation sheet is indicated if the Initial Run checkbox has been selected.
  • The risk provision position "value adjustment" is displayed on the evaluation sheet in the Initialization (Value Adjustment) for Current Period field. This field is displayed only if the evaluation contained an initialization.
  • You cannot change the initialization amount on the evaluation sheet.
  • The risk provision position is initialized using special RBD flows types that have to be configured in RBD Customizing. Sample Customizing for RBD provides the RBD flow type "5000 - Initialization Acquisition IVA Current Period" or "5020 - Initialization Retirement IVA Current Period" for initializing the risk provision position "value adjustment".
  • Note that the RBD interface must be filled with initialization values based on the settlement period change defined in Customizing (see the Customizing activity Define Settlement Period Change).
  • On the "Turnover Processing" tab page of the RBD account, the system displays the corresponding planned record or actual record - dependent on whether or not the result of the valuation has been posted already - for this amount.
  • Note that a position can be initialized and changed during an initial run. For a comparison of the two, see the following example.

Example

During the supply of data, the following values are imported to table /IBS/TRB_IASGHD:

Contract    WAEVS    BOOK_VAL    WB_INIT_PY    WB_INIT

1    USD    0,00    0,00    10.000,00

2    AUD    0.00    50,000.00    10,000.00

3    JPY    0    70,000    -30,000

4    EUR    100,000.00    20,000.00    0.00

Provided no cash flow positions or collateral positions are supplied or entered at a later date for these two contracts, the system creates the following value adjustment positions:

  • Contract 1 - initialization for current settlement period

The value adjustment position is initialized for the current settlement period based on the (positive) amount of USD 10,000 supplied in the WB_INIT field via the RBD flow type "5000 - Initialization Acquisition IVA Current Period".

  • Contract 2 - initialization for previous and current settlement periods

The value adjustment position is created using two RBD flow types:

    1. The value adjustment position is initialized for a previous settlement period based on the amount of AUD 50,000 supplied in the WB_INIT_PY field via the RBD flow type "5010 - Initialization Acquisition IVA Previous Periods".
    2. The value adjustment position is also initialized for the current settlement period based on the (positive) amount of AUD 10,000 supplied in the WB_INIT field via the RBD flow type "5000 - Initialization Acquisition IVA Current Period".
  • Contract 3 - initialization for previous and current settlement periods

This example describes how data is provided if you want to initialize a higher position than available at the time of initialization in previous periods in RBD. In the example above, the value adjustment position at the end of the last settlement period was JPY 70,000 (on December 31, 2011, for example) but the value adjustment position at the time of initialization is JPY 40,000 (on June 30, 2012, for example). This can occur if the value adjustment position was reduced during the current settlement period. For example, if there is a write-off of JPY 30,000. The value adjustment position is created using two RBD flow types:

    1. The value adjustment position is initialized for a previous settlement period based on the amount of JPY 70,000 supplied in the WB_INIT_PY field via the RBD flow type "5010 - Initialization Acquisition IVA Previous Periods".
    2. The value adjustment position is also initialized for the current settlement period based on the (negative) amount of JPY -30,000 supplied in the WB_INIT field via the RBD flow type "5020 - Initialization Retirement IVA Current Period".
  • Contract 4 - initialization and simultaneous revaluation

The value adjustment position is created using two RBD flow types:

    1. The value adjustment position is initialized for previous settlement periods based on the amount of EUR 20,000 supplied in the WB_INIT_PY field via the RBD flow type "5010 - Initialization Acquisition IVA Previous Periods".
    2. Since a book value of over EUR 100,000 was supplied in the BOOK_VAL field (and no expected cash flows or collateral values can be deducted from this amount because none were supplied), RBD calculates a value adjustment requirement of EUR 100,000. An amount of EUR 20,000 has already been posted during the initial run, which means that the delta is EUR 80,000. An appropriation posting of this different amount (EUR 80,000) is created (in Sample Customizing for RBD this is flow type "5100 - Appropriation IVA").
