Definition
You use the #Indicator: Collateral Update' for evaluations using the evaluation method with the 'Fair Value' analysis horizon to control whether collateral liquidation data is to be updated during a new evaluation in the future.
Use
Characteristic Value Meaning
X During a new evaluation in the future, the system updates the liquidation data of the collaterals.
<blank> During a new evaluation in the future, the system does not update the liquidation data of the collaterals.
Dependencies
The system can only execute a collateral update if, in the Customizing activity Collateral Valuation per IAS, you defined that old expectation values are to be copied for the combination of Credit Rating Collateral Giver and Collateral Type. This is always the case if you set the Indicator: Copy Old Expectation Values in this Customizing activity.
Example
During the last evaluation on 12/21/2009, the liquidation date of a collateral was set as 01/15/2011.
A subsequent evaluation is executed on 03/21/2010 and the Indicator: Collateral Update is set/activated in the RBD account.
Processing:
- In the last evaluation, the liquidation date of the collateral was set as being 380 days later than the evaluation key date (evaluation key date was 12/31/2009, liquidation date was 01/15/2011, difference = 01/15/2011 minus 12/31/2009 = 380 days.
- The subsequent evaluation is executed with the evaluation key date 03/31/2010. Because the #Indicator Collateral Update# is set, the system must update the liquidation date of the collateral in the future:
- The evaluation key date of the subsequent evaluation is 03/31/2010.
- Liquidation date of the collateral must be 380 days after the new evaluation key date, therefore
- new liquidation date = new evaluation key date + 380 days
- new liquidation date = 03/31/2010 = 04/15/2011
