Definition

Specifies the number of units of measure to which the inventory price refers.

Use

Dependencies

As with the inventory price, you cannot enter the base quantity for price directly. The quantity is set by the inventory price change. It therefore corresponds to the costing lot size. When you create the cost estimate, you must therefore choose a costing lot size that corresponds best to the quantities that will be valuated with the inventory price. If the quantities that are to be valuated in preliminary order cost estimates differ greatly from one another, we recommend that you select a smaller quantity as the costing lot size for the standard cost estimate. If you do not, rounding differences may occur after the inventory price has been converted to a small quantity.

Example

You sell fish that weigh between 200 and 500 grams. In a delivery you usually sell 2-3 kilograms of each type of fish. However, some major customers order 500-1000 kilograms. You choose to use kilograms as the unit of measure and 2 as the costing lot size. The standard cost estimate gives a standard price of 4.53 EUR. After the inventory price change, the inventory price is 4.53 and the base quantity for price is 2.
