Use

You use the configuration tool to change the WebClient UI to fit your organization's specific business needs.

Requirements

If you are planning to change field labels across several views, you can use the design layer which allows you to consolidate changes to fields across several views. Customer-specific fields created via EEW (Easy Enhancement Workbench) and which are included in the views can be changed using the configuration tool as if they were standard fields.

Standard settings

Activities

1. Enter transaction code BSP_WD_CMPWB.

You see the Access BSP WD Workbench page.

2. Select the component name from the list containing the views you want to change.

You can search on the first characters of the component name as they define the area. For example, BP* stands for Business Partner, MKT* stands for Marketing, BT<last 3 numbers of the business type>* for Business Transaction or IB* for Ibase,

3. Click Display.

4. On the Runtime Repository tab, expand the node Views.

5. Double-click the specific view you want to change.

6. Click Configuration.

The view opens in simple configuration.

Simple configuration displays fields in rows and allows you to move fields on the page among panels, rows, and the field set by choosing the field and clicking on an arrow icon. Click Edit to set the field to mandatory, display only, or change the field label. Page configuration always starts in simple configuration mode.

7. To access detailed configuration, click Detailed Configuration.

Detailed configuration displays fields on a page grid. Press and hold the Alt key and click the element to display the properties view, where you can edit specific attributes of the elements, including the column, row, text label, and input field width. The types of changes you can perform are based on the field type. Not all pages have a link for a detailed view.

You see the context set when you access detailed configuration. The tree includes all elements that you can add to the current page, either by choosing the top node to include all elements or opening the node and choosing individual elements from the context. complete blocks from the context node.

8. Make your changes.

9. When your changes are complete, click Save.

The saved view with the configuration changes goes into a transport request.

10. To test your changes, highlight the view and click Test.

11. To translate captions and changed labels, use transaction SE63.

Use transaction SE63 to translate captions and changed labels following the path SE63 -> Translation -> ABAP Objects -> Short Texts -> S6 Technical Short Texts -> BSP2. Note BSP1 are SAP texts; BSP2 are customer texts.

When you create a new configuration, you can choose the specific parameters to which it applies. You cannot save a configuration within a view with identical parameters.
