You can use this IMG activity to adjust general status management as required. The SAP system differentiates between the following statuses:
Status management basis
The following data is defined in different central SAP Customizing tables and cannot be changed:
- Of four tables, one contains all the statuses that the system can assign (system status).
- Another contains all the business transactions.
- A third one assigns one or more system statuses to each business transaction and specifies whether the system sets or deletes the system status during the business transaction.
- The last one states which business transactions are allowed for which objects (for example, order header, order item).
These assignments provide information as to the maximum number of system statuses for an object, and the business transactions in which the system status is set and deleted.
Define status profile for user status
You can use this activity to create status profiles for your own status (application status). You define the following in the status profile:
- You define user statuses and document their functions in short or long texts. You can create one or more user statuses in a status profile.
- You specify the sequence of the user statuses. You do this using a status number. If you do not assign a status number to a user status, this status can always be set. However, only one user status may be activated for a status number. If you assign a status number to a user status, you must also assign a lowest and highest status number. These restrict the sequence number range from which the subsequent user status can be selected.
- You use object categories to assign at least one object category to the status profile.
- You define the initial status that is automatically activated when the object is created.
- You choose Goto -> Transaction Control to:
- Determine which user status is automatically activated when the business transaction is performed
- Determine which business transactions are allowed or disallowed when a certain status is active.
- In the status profile you can define a transaction performed by the user status, with the result that one or more system statuses or user statuses are set or deleted.
