In this step, you define the output determination procedure (also referred to as message determination schemas) for the Trading Contract.
Output determination procedures are used to record the output types permitted for each application. As a result, the system can automatically propose an appropriate message in a trading contract.
You must first define the output types and then include them in the output determination procedure.

Requirements
In the Trading Contract, there are three target groups to which correspondence can be addressed:
- Customer
- Vendor
- Employee in the trading house
In the standard system, a separate output determination procedure is defined at header and item level for each target group.
Recommendation
To define a new output determination procedure, copy an existing procedure and make the required changes to the copy.
If you create your own output determination procedures, begin each key with the letter Y or Z, as these characters are reserved for user-defined output determination procedures in the standard system.
Activities
- Check the extent to which procedures in the standard system match your requirements.
- Define your output determination procedure for the Trading Contract, if necessary.
- Assign your output determination procedure to the contract type (for the target group employee), the purchasing group (for the target group vendor) or the sales group (for the target group customer).
