While the access sequences are used to define the data that is selected from the condition tables and how the data is selected, the update rules are used to define how data is written to the condition tables and where the data is placed in the condition tables.

When this is done, the condition tables and fields used for storing the data are defined for each update rule. An assignment to a field within a structure is made for each entry. The value is taken from this field. A fixed value can, alternatively, be stated.

Different update rules are delivered for a single RMA calculation.
