Use
This activity maintains the settings for using external software via the Sales and Use Tax Interface or the internal jurisdiction method for tax calculation.
Country Attributes
External software:
Select the required external tax system from the dropdown box and enter the corresponding jurisdiction code structure:
Vertex: "2,3,4,1"
Taxware: "2,5,2"
Sabrix (USA): "2,2,5,5"
Sabrix (Canada): "2,2"
Internal jurisdiction method:
Enter the jurisdiction code structure.
Leave the "External Tax System" field blank.
External Tax Types
External software:
Enables the TTE to intepret tax types provided by external systems via the Sales and Use Tax Interface.
Jurisdiction Levels
External software and internal jurisdiction method:
Define jurisdiction levels and assign descriptions.
When the number of tax lines returned in a tax calculation exceeds the number of levels contained in the jurisdiction code, these additional tax lines are designated as a jurisdiction level with an indicator that is defined in this activity.
Note
To ensure that any changes made in this Customizing activity are immediately available to the TTE, execute the IMG activity:
Transaction Tax Engine -> Utilities -> Immediate Customizing Refresh
Requirements
In Customizing for the TTE, carry out:
Transaction Tax Engine -> Tax Maintenance Settings -> Tax Determination and Calculation -> Define Tax Settings
Transaction Tax Engine -> Tax Maintenance Settings -> Utilitties -> Assign Objects from External Systems
For taxes calculated via a jurisdiction method, carry out the activities:
Customer Relationship Management -> Basic Functions -> Taxes -> Tax Determination Based on Tax Jurisdiction Keys

A calling system supplies the following tax types:

Jurisdiction Levels
A jurisdiction code might contain 3 levels:
Level 1 (highest level): State
Level 2: County
Level 3: Town
From a TTE perspective, a sample tax calculation can contain up to 99 levels, however for transferring Billing documents to R/3, the maximum number of return levels is 6.
