Use

To support the SAP Sales and Use Tax Interface for calculating US and CA sales and use tax via third-party tax systems.

Requirements

This activity is only required if you use a third-party tax system for calculating US and/or CA sales and use tax.

Standard settings

The standard codes are:

Code    Description

V    Vertex

A    Taxware

S    Sabrix

Activities

Enter a code and description for the required tax system. Use the standard codes above.

To maintain additional attributes, select Details or doubleclick the entry. Enter the following information on the detail screen:

Tax Interface Select "SAP_SU2 - Sales and Use Tax Interface" from the dropdown list.

RFC Destination (Calculation)

This setting has to be maintained unless you operate only in the Mobile Client environment.

Enter the RFC destination of the third-party tax system.

Verify that the RFC destination is configured as follows (transaction SM59):

  • Connection Type: "T" (TCP/IP)
  • Activation Type: "Registered Server Program".
  • Program ID, Gateway Host, Gateway Service: Values must correspond to the command line arguments that are used to register the third-party tax system RFC server.

Note: For a Windows operating system the RFC server is run as a service using the utility "TaxService.exe", and the command line arguments are supplied via the property file "TaxService.properties".

Tax Interface Implementation

This setting has to be maintained when a third-party tax system is being used in the Mobile Client Application.

Enter the classname of the Java class that implements the tax interface.

SAP is aware of the following classnames provided by the manufacturers of the certified tax systems:

Manufacturer    Classname

Vertex    com.vertexinc.qsci.QSCI

Taxware    CTaxDetermination

Sabrix    com.sabrix.sapadapter.ExternalTaxDetermination

To set up other certified tax systems, enter the classname as provided by the manufacturer.
