Use

You can define groups in this IMG activity to which you then assign general valuation classes. The groups are assigned per company code, product type and/or transaction type. When you then use the F4 help for assigning general valuation classes only general valuation classes for groups belonging to the product/transaction type are displayed.

You should use this IMG activity if you have a large amount of general valuation classes and these can be assigned reasonably to groups that can in turn be assigned to product/transaction types. This makes it much easier to enter transactions because not all general valuation classes are listed but rather only those that are relevant to a product/transaction type.

Note

In addition, you can enter a default value for the general valuation classes depending on the product/transaction type under Money Market / Foreign Exchange / Securities / Listed Derivatives / OTC Derivatives -> Transaction Management -> Assign General Valuation Classes. This value is automatically used but can still be changed when you enter a transaction.

Requirements

General valuation classes are created under Transaction Manager -> General Settings -> Accounting -> Settings for Position Management -> Define and Assign Valuation Classes

Activities

  1. If you want to use the assignment of general valuation classes to groups set the activation indicator for each company code under Activation Indicator.
  2. Define the groups you require under Create GVC Group. Enter a group name (short description) and a group text (long description)
  3. In order to assign the general valuation classes to these groups, select a group and branch to GVC Assignment.
  4. Under Assign Group, assign the group per company code, product type and transaction type.
