Use

Authorization types are used to define which retirement plans a user is allowed to maintain.

Part of the definition of an authorization type determines which field decides maintenance authorization. The value of this field is checked after the initial screen and prior to saving with the authorization object called "Retirement plan: Authorization types" (technical name: F_RPUS_ATT).

Authorization hierarchy:

  • Authorization types: authorization on the level of a group of retirement plans.
  • Authorization object groups: authorization on a application level (can only be used in combination with authorization groups).
  • Authorization groups: authorization on the level of an individual retirement plan. An authorization group is always associated with an authorization object group.
  • Fieldgroups for authorization: authorization on the level of an input field.

Example

User A maintains Traditional IRAs while user B maintains Education IRAs.

You would set this up as follows:

  • Create an authorization type and choose as screen field 1 the retirement plan type (Rtp_Us_Plan-Type_Code).
  • Assign both users an authorization for the object called "Retirement plan: Authorization types" (F_RPUS_ATT).
    • Field - Activity: Enter a '*' next to both authorizations
    • Field - Authorization type: Enter the ID of the authorization type you created in the first step
    • Field - Authorization value (field 1): User A is assigned to value '01' (Traditional IRA), user B is assigned to value '03' (Education IRA)
