In this step, you define the dimension methods for your matrices. A dimension method is the employee attribute that is used to calculate the position the employee occupies along the dimension axis.

Standard settings

The SAP system contains sample methods together with the corresponding function modules that you can use or modify to meet your requirements. The system contains the following function modules for dimensation methods:

Function module    Definition

HRCM_MATRIX_AGE    Calculates the employee's age in years.

HRCM_MATRIX_COMPA_RATIO    Calculates the compa-ratio.

HRCM_MATRIX_PERFORMANCE    Calculates the employee's appraisal data

    using either infotype 0025 or results

    from the Appraisal Systems component.

HRCM_MATRIX_SERVICE_TIME    Calculates the employee's length of

    service in months.

HRHAP_PA_CMP_MATRIX_APPRAISAL    Calculates the employee's appraisal

    data using results from the Objective Setting and Appraisals

    component.

    Note that this function module is only available if you implement this

    component additionally as an SAP Enterprise HR Extension.

Note

If you want to define your own method or modify an SAP method, you must create your own function module. You must also code any valid parameters in the dimension table maintenance routine to activate the help routines.

Recommendation

Add your own customer-specific dimension methods in the customer name range (0 to 9).

Activities

  1. Determine which methods you need in your organization
  2. To create a new method, choose New Entries and enter a one-digit identifier, a text, and a long text for each method
  3. Enter the name of the function module that you want to use in the method
  4. Save your entries
